We are Pauline and Elisabeth and here are our stories..
I came to Delhi back in 2010 and since then have nurtured a love for the country and culture which I always knew would lead to my building something here.
I left France after I graduated from my Business school and started working as a production manager for a French brand in Delhi, I learned a lot in the fashion industry on the products, the garments etc… but especially on the « Indian way of life and work »! Patience, perseverance, but also curiosity.
Born in the north of France, I come from a big family, with plenty of cousins, aunts and uncles, lovely grandparents, family dinners, huge tables, delicious homemade food, barbecues, bonfires, many friends, laughs, smiles, fun, jokes, mockeries, fights, discussions, love…
Christmas, birthdays, even a nice sunny Sunday is a good pretext for a family reunion.
I always lived with flatmates, in big apartments, always with a lot of people, friends etc… In Delhi I am also staying with a good friend of mine and we are always hosting friends, cooking and watching movies all together in an apartment I gradually renovated and decorated with the furniture I acquired on my getaways to Rajasthan.
With Scarlette, I wanted to find back this mood, having a welcoming house, with good smell, good music, nice light. A mix of Indian antiques and French refinement.
When a dream comes true…
I settled in Delhi in 2009 but I had been travelling in India every year since 2003. That was a conscious decision!
Before joining Scarlette in May 2014, I was and I am still working for a travel agency, designing trips in India for French-speaking travellers and sharing my passion and love for India with them. India, where you learn to find beauty in small things and where Gratitude and Love prevail.
In India there is a Sanskrit saying “Atithi devo Bhava”, which means Guests should be treated like God.
Warm welcome; smiles and attention to details are Scarlette’s motto to make you feel at home.
